Does Cara Comply With HIPAA?

No — HIPAA applies to doctors, hospitals, and health plans, not to a personal software tool like Cara. Instead, Cara protects your information through its own design: your data is stored on our server in a database designed to be encrypted, is never sold, is never used to train AI models, and can be deleted by you at any time. Full details, including exactly where your data lives and who can see it, are in the Client Data Security Briefing you'll be given with your acceptance materials.

Where Does This Information Come From?

Cara's drug interaction and recall checks come from openFDA and RxNorm-derived databases — the same category of sources pharmacy systems use — and always show you the source behind a flag.

Cara showed you this code when your screening was approved. Contact the operator if you don't have one.

Cara is a personal health monitoring tool, not a medical provider. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. HIPAA does not apply to Cara — Cara protects your data through its own architecture instead, as described in the Client Data Security Briefing.
